Internship #2 (website design)

Today is my last day interning for Bookoo Inc.  

I have been in Chicago for the past 3 months and have

absolutely loved it!  I just wanted to share a little bit

of what I have been up to.  My main task this summer was 

designing a website for a new family history site.  

The site is HistoryLines.com

It's not finished yet but here is kind of 

everything I've been working on for it.  

We'll start with the first of my summer so you have to 

keep reading to see it get better and better ;)

So basically we had 2 pages that we came up with

ideas for.  So here are a whole bunch of ideas that I

played with all summer long...

And there's a summer of a whole lot of work!  

We are still working on the website so it hasn't gone live yet. 

This last one is the one they have chosen for their website,

but now we have to build the other pages and have a lot more

work before we can launch the site.   

Bookoo hired me and I will continue to work for them from Provo! :)  

It's been a great summer!!  And I'm super grateful for my co-workers

and all that they have taught me and for their help!!

Winter Semester 2014 (a few months late)

I took off for the Philippines right after

winter semester without a chance to post some

of my work from the semester.  Here are just a few

paintings that I did:)

This first assignment we were asked to 

illustrate a visual clichè. I chose...

"Head in the Clouds"

Here we have a Filipino "Jeepney"

This last year at the MTC I taught missionaries that were assigned

to serve in the Philippines for the LDS Church.  (mormon.org)

I taught an incredible group of elders and right as they

were getting ready to leave I was inspired to do an illustration

of them.  It turned out to be a take on "Putting on the whole armor of God" Eph. 6:13

We were given very specific directions with this project.

We were to paint a paper airplane with a striped background.

This piece always makes me think of the song,

"My Paper Heart" by The All-American Rejects

And that's my quick update.  

Hopefully I can stay on top of it next time;)

Time flies... when you're in the Philippines!

I'M HOME!

I was planning on posting each night while in the Philippines

but I would get home at night and be SO tired!  The sun

soaked all the energy right outta me!  

But let me just say,

The Philippines has changed my life!!

The Filipino people are incredible and so inspirational!

Here are a few pictures that I took that I will use this coming year

in my illustration classes.  I am hoping (with a lot of help) that I

can somehow portray to others the simple life that 

is found in the Philippines through my art!

I've got a BIG project ahead of me but I'm excited to see what I can create:)

I was so blessed that while on my trip I got to be a part of my companion's

big day:)  It was so neat being in the temple to witness Ading & Bernard's sealing (in tagalog)!!

Although this 2 week trip/project FLEW BY and I'm sad to see it come to an end,

I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have had this opportunity:)  

Their smiles are PRICELESS:)

I am living my dream:)  

I still can't believe I'm here in the Philippines with the people that

I love most!  Today we went to one of my areas where there are SO

many little kids right next to the ocean.  I'm always amazed that they have SO

little but they have the most genuine smiles you will ever see!  

These two families are so near and dear to my heart it was

SO good seeing them again:)  

I am so blessed to be here with the happiest, most humble,

and most friendly people on earth!!!

Streets of Carmona

ORCA GRANT

Thanks to BYU I received an ORCA grant to help me with my senior art project.

Now I am here in the Philippines taking pictures and sketches so that I can 

have references to use next year in painting the beautiful lifestyle of the Filipino 

people!  I love them so much and am so lucky to have 2 weeks 

here in the Philippines with them again.

I sure do love these people!:)  

I have had some jet lag and also got a little sick today so

I only have a few pictures but hopefully tomorrow will be 

the start of a lot more!
